Come and join us exploring nature! This month we will walk in beautiful Finch Hatton Gorge, learning about ferns - these gorgeous plants thrive in the cool wet conditions of the gorge. We will chat about their life cycle and spot the many varieties along the way.
Meet at the start of the track at 10am.
The walk is 2.8km return to the Araluen falls and water hole. We'll enjoy a swim and picnic lunch at the waterhole, before returning. The track is fairly level, but slightly uphill all the way up the gorge. For more information: https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/eungella/journeys....
There will be an opportunity for some guided nature journaling - where we draw or write about the ferns we saw. We encourage parents to get a nature journal as well and learn alongside your child! Model to them that you are not afraid to give something a go and make mistakes along the way.
What to bring:
Comfortable shoes, sunhat, sunscreen
Swimmers and towel
Bottle of water
Packed lunch
Nature journal (A5 blank page book)
Pencil(s)
Optional:
Watercolour pencils
Small paintbrush
Parents are responsible for the safety of their own children, and need to be present with their children during this activity
